Welcome.
I bought an hp dv7-3080us laptop a couple weeks ago and I am quite happy with it so far. The i7 720 cpu is quite fast and of the many laptops I have owned over the years, this is the first one that multitasks this smoothly; I can run several applications at the same time with no apparent slowing down or hiccups. This machine can play blueray dvds, but I have not tested this yet as I have no dvds to try, but I hope to check this out in the near future. The maximum screen resolution is 1600x900 which is big enough for most everything I do. COD2 and EvE Online are games that I play often and they run fine on this new laptop - even together. This baby has 1 GB of memory on the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M) and 6 GB's of memory on the motherboard. The keyboard seems a bit fragile, but is holding together even with my large clumsy hands banging on it many times a day. I purchased a 2 year accidental damage package with this laptop just in case, but now I am wishing I had gotten the 3 year plan as I really like this laptop a lot. The NVIDIA drivers crashed at random when I played movies full screen in Firefox at first, but I upgraded the driver at the NVIDIA web site and no longer have that problem. I fully expected to have to deal with the problems you are going to get with a new operating system running on a new cpu (Windows 7 on Intel® Core™ i7 Laptop Processor), but so far it is just smooth sailing. I have been doing a lot of websurfing and downloading of programs and data and Microsoft Security Essentials has protected my laptop admirably so far (and for free!). PCMAG had an interesting review of this laptop with benchmarks as well.
